Chamber Strings

The Chamber Music Performance Group, Cantabile Quartet, is under the direction of David Large.

The Cantabile Quartet received recognition as the high school winners of the Chamber Music International Student Competition in April 2006.

They played at the Meyerson Symphony Center and were awarded a $1,000.00 check for their outstanding performance.

Also the Cantabile Quartet was a high school winner of a Downbeat award in 2006.

Orchestra (JV & Varsity)

Orchestral groups at BTW are directed by David Large and consist of 3 performing ensembles:

Varsity:  This is an auditioned group of advanced students.

Junior Varsity:  This group is comprised of Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors & Seniors.

Chamber Ensembles: Duets, Trios, Quartets & Quintets comprise the various Chamber Ensembles.

Symphony Orchestra - Luis Martinez & David Large

The BTWHS Full Orchestra is comprised of approximately 65 students, from both band and orchestra departments. The Full Orchestra is directed by both David Large and Luis Martinez.

Orchestral groups at BTW are directed by David Large and consist of 3 performing ensembles:

The orchestras and ensembles perform in many district and non-district functions. These students also participate in the TMEA All City, Region & All- State Competition and the UIL Solo & Ensemble Competition.

In 2009, the BTWHSPVA Orchestra won a Student Downbeat Award for best orchestra performance by a performing arts high school.
